How to press TAVINOX PRESS correctly
the first two episodes of the Video Academy

We have launched the TAVINOX Video Academy — short practical videos that take you through the whole pressing sequence on a real tube. Episode one covers the smaller sizes, Ø 15–28 mm, with the BLM-1930 press tool; episode two the medium range, Ø 35–54 mm, with the ED-1550. No animations, just real tools and a real joint.

Episode 1 · Ø 15–28 mm

How to press TAVINOX PRESS correctly, Ø 15–28 mm

Cutting, deburring inside and out, checking the O-ring, marking the insertion depth and pressing. The smaller sizes on the BLM-1930 press tool (19 kN).

Episode 2 · Ø 35–54 mm

How to press TAVINOX PRESS correctly, Ø 35–54 mm

The same sequence on the mid-range sizes — a different deburring tool and the ED-1550 press tool (32 kN) with a higher pressing force. What to watch out for when handling a longer tube.

Six steps that both episodes work through

The sequence is the same for every size — only the tool and the pressing force change. The most common mistakes we see in warranty claims arise in steps 2 and 4.

1

Cutting

Square to the axis, with a tube cutter for stainless steel. Never an angle grinder with a disc for carbon steel — it carries iron particles onto the surface and causes pitting corrosion.

2

Deburring

Always both sides, outside and inside. An internal burr damages the O-ring as the tube is inserted and the joint starts to seep.

3

Checking the fitting

O-ring seated and undamaged, correct size, blue indicator ring in place, fitting clean.

4

Insertion depth mark

Push the tube in to the stop and mark it with a marker pen at the edge of the fitting. The gap between the mark and the fitting must be less than 3 mm.

5

Inserting to the stop

Square, all the way to the stop. Water may be used to ease insertion. Never grease, silicone or sealing paste — they damage the O-ring.

6

Pressing

M-profile press jaws square to the axis. Once the joint has been pressed, the blue indicator ring falls off. The TH, V and U profiles are not compatible.

⚠
Deburring is the step most often rushedAn internal burr cannot be seen as the tube goes in, but it cuts into the O-ring. The joint then passes the pressure test and starts to seep after weeks of operation. That is why the videos show deburring in close-up.

Products used in the videos

Every tool and every material from both episodes is in stock at our warehouse in Zlín. The codes are the same as in the catalogue, so you can order exactly what you see in the video.

In the videos we also cut tube with this bench-top electric cutter. It cuts cold up to Ø 116 mm, with no sparks and no heat-affected zone, so the cut end can go straight under the press tool. We do not carry it in our range — but it is in our rental fleet, with the 137S deburring tool included in the price.

Rent the PC116

Rental is available to companies and sole traders only — a Company ID (IČO) is required.

The videos are a supplement. You earn the certificate in the Academy.

You will also find both episodes in the Academy itself, in the chapter on the installation sequence. Work through the training to the end, pass the test and you receive an installer certificate and an extended 8-year warranty on the whole TAVINOX PRESS system.
