    Technical parameters and facts

The EPDM O-ring is made from EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer), colour black. The EPDM O-ring is a sealing element for pipework and jointing systems that require high resistance to water, heat, steam, ageing, ozone and normal operating influences. EPDM is the standard material in MEP (building services) installations, above all for drinking water pipework, heating and technical media free of mineral oils. The seal has the Leak Detect function, which reliably reveals unpressed joints during the system pressure test. The long-term operating temperature range is −55 °C to +120 °C. The material offers: very good resistance to water (cold and hot), good resistance to steam, very good resistance to ozone and UV radiation, high ageing resistance, good resistance to alkalis and cleaning agents, suitability for MEP (building services) and fire sprinkler applications and integrated Leak Detect function. The EPDM O-ring is suitable for drinking water pipework, cold and hot water pipework, heating systems, steam pipework (under appropriate conditions), technical and industrial pipework, installations exposed to the weather and fire protection and sprinkler systems. It is not intended for applications with mineral oils, applications with lubricants and fuels, applications outside the chemical compatibility of the medium and operation outside the recommended temperature and pressure limits of the system. The DVGW, ITC, PAVUS, ÖVGW, ACS, WRAS, EPD, ISO and CCZ certifications cover use in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Germany and Poland. Selected applications meet the requirements for fixed fire-fighting installations — provided that the requirements of the relevant standard are met and the system is certified. The EPDM O-ring has the Leak Detect function for identifying unpressed joints during the pressure test — it makes installation safer and reduces the risk of leaks in service.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    What is the EPDM O-ring?

The EPDM O-ring is a sealing element for pipework and jointing systems that require high resistance to water, heat, steam, ageing, ozone and normal operating influences. EPDM is the standard material in MEP (building services) installations, above all for drinking water pipework, heating and technical media free of mineral oils. The seal has the Leak Detect function, which reliably reveals unpressed joints during the system pressure test.

What is the temperature range of the EPDM O-ring?

The long-term operating temperature range of the EPDM O-ring is −55 °C to +120 °C. These figures are based on the laboratory testing and material properties of the EPDM compound and serve as technical guidance.

What material is the EPDM O-ring made from?

The EPDM O-ring is made from EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer), colour black. Material properties: very good resistance to water (cold and hot), good resistance to steam, very good resistance to ozone and UV radiation, high ageing resistance, good resistance to alkalis and cleaning agents, suitability for MEP (building services) and fire sprinkler applications and integrated Leak Detect function.

Which applications is the EPDM O-ring suitable for?

The EPDM O-ring is suitable for: drinking water pipework, cold and hot water pipework, heating systems, steam pipework (under appropriate conditions), technical and industrial pipework, installations exposed to the weather and fire protection and sprinkler systems. Use in fire protection and sprinkler systems is subject to the requirements of the relevant standard being met and to certification of the system.

Which applications is the EPDM O-ring NOT suitable for?

The EPDM O-ring is not intended for: applications with mineral oils, applications with lubricants and fuels, applications outside the chemical compatibility of the medium and operation outside the recommended temperature and pressure limits of the system. The sealing material must always be chosen with regard to the specific operating conditions (medium, temperature, pressure, joint design).

What certifications does the EPDM O-ring have?

The EPDM O-ring holds the following certifications: DVGW, ITC, PAVUS, ÖVGW, ACS, WRAS, EPD, ISO and CCZ. The certifications cover use in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Germany and Poland.

What does the Leak Detect function on the EPDM O-ring do?

The EPDM O-ring has the Leak Detect function, which identifies unpressed joints during the pressure test. The function only acts on an unpressed joint and serves as a safety check during installation — it makes installation safer, reduces the risk of leaks in service and allows unpressed joints to be found quickly.
