What do the DVGW, ITC and ISO 9001 certifications mean?
A practical explanation of the certification framework of the TAVINOX PRESS system.
DVGW — the German certification for drinking water
DVGW (Deutscher Verein des Gas- und Wasserfaches), the German technical and scientific association for gas and water, runs the most widely recognised certification in Europe for materials in contact with drinking water. For the TAVINOX PRESS system it covers:
- Fittings OD 15–108 mm (316L)
- TR10MM (316L) and TR60MM (304L) tubes
- OK02 O-rings (EPDM) and OK04 flat gaskets
DVGW certification guarantees that the materials meet the hygiene requirements of DIN EN 1717, DIN 50930-6 and other drinking water standards.
ITC — the Czech certification for drinking water
ITC (the Institute for Testing and Certification) is a Czech certification body recognised in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia. The ITC certificate confirms that the TAVINOX PRESS system meets the requirements of Czech water legislation and of the hygiene standards for materials in contact with drinking water.
For installation companies the ITC certificate is decisive at site handover — the site supervisor and the public health officer require it as proof that the material is suitable.
ISO 9001 and ISO 14001
ISO 9001 (quality management system) and ISO 14001 (environmental management system) apply to the manufacturing process of TAVINOX fittings and tubes.
What this means for installers:
- Every fitting goes through 100% quality control
- The material is traceable from the melt to the finished product
- The warranty claim process is controlled and documented
- The manufacturer minimises the environmental footprint of production
PAVUS — certification for fire protection pipework
PAVUS, the Czech fire safety certification body, certifies the TAVINOX PRESS system for use in fire protection pipework (sprinklers, hydrants). The certification covers:
- Fittings OD 22–108 mm with the OK02 (EPDM) O-ring
- Operating pressure PN 16 bar (OD 15–88.9 mm) and PN 12.5 bar (OD 108 mm)
- The requirement for a minimum pressing force of 32 kN (OD 22–54) and 65 kN (OD 76–108) respectively
Important: the PR10FF and NS10FRP fittings do NOT hold PAVUS certification.
How to check the certificates
All the certificates for the TAVINOX PRESS system can be downloaded at tavinox.com/ke-stazeni in the Certificates section. Every certificate states:
- The certificate number and its validity date
- The range of certified products
- The standard it was certified against
- The contact details of the certification body
We recommend having copies of all the relevant certificates to hand at site handover.
