Fire protection with TAVINOX PRESS
Certification, PN 16/12.5 bar pressures and the installation requirements in fire-fighting systems.
Certification for fire protection pipework
The TAVINOX PRESS system is certified for fire protection pipework by PAVUS, the Czech fire safety certification body, and by VdS (Verband der Sachversicherer). The certification covers:
- Fittings OD 22–108 mm
- OK02 (EPDM) O-rings certified to VdS
- TR10MM (316L) and TR60MM (304L) tubes
Important: the PR10FF and NS10FRP fittings are NOT certified for fire protection pipework.

Episode #3: Pressing Ø 76.1–108 mm – single and double pressing
Operating pressures for fire protection applications
The pressures permitted in fire protection pipework are those certified by PAVUS:
- OD 15–88.9 mm (DN20–DN80): 16 bar (max. operating pressure)
- OD 108 mm (DN100): 12.5 bar (max. operating pressure)
The smaller sizes therefore match the nominal pressure of the system, PN 16; at OD 108 mm the permissible pressure is reduced to 12.5 bar. Fire protection pipework is also subject to stricter pressing requirements — the minimum forces are given below.
Minimum pressing forces — fire protection pipework
STRICTER pressing force requirements apply to fire protection pipework:
- OD 22–54 mm: at least 32 kN — a single press
- OD 76.1–108 mm: at least 65 kN — DOUBLE pressing
Double pressing means that every joint is pressed twice — once from each side. This is mandatory for the large diameters in fire protection pipework.
Installation requirements
Requirements specific to fire protection pipework:
All joints must be accessible for visual inspection
The pipework must be marked as fire protection pipework (red identification)
Supports must be made of non-combustible materials
Penetrations through floors and walls must be closed with a fire-stopping seal
Pressure test: 1.5× the operating pressure, min. 2 hours
The pressure test report must form part of the handover documentation
